The wonder of the curtain veil ...

Last week Talitha and myself had the house for ourselves. My teammembers went on a short vacation for a week and that kept us to have some quality time together. It was a nice week where I was able to strategize a bit on the project direction. And every evening Talitha and myself had a good diner together and watched some movies.

And then eastern came. A great long weekend of 4 days off. Eastern here is also a big thing. Thousands of Nairobi people go to the church. Last Sunday Talitha and myself went to the Nairobi Chapel, the second service at 11 am. Can you imagine, the first service already had around 4000 people attending, and another one at 11am. The church service was so incredibly beautiful, that I have to share the outline in this blog. I know that these parts can cause discussions and that people think differently about these topics, but to me it showed me again how genius God created all events and how much more there is to discover than you at first sight would see. I do ask myself sometimes the question, isn’t it all fake? Isn’t Christianity just something which was setup by some wise men? Isn’t all a big setup, a fake thing which I’m following? But when I hear the story like last Sunday, I’m even more convinced that no man can come up with such a story without making a mistake when he tries to intend to create a story like this. To me I see the hand of God in this story and His genius in His master plan all over. So sorry for sharing this, but I have to sometimes.

The wonder of the curtain veil at eastern. That was the topic of the preach. It’s only 1 simple line in every evangelism. F.e. Matthew 27:51 At that moment the curtain of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom. That’s all, one simple line which can be overlooked so easily as just another activity what happened around the crucifixion of Jesus. But it means so much more. The temple was already built during the days of Moses with specific rules. You had the outer reaches, the inner reaches and the holy of holiest. Everybody was allowed to enter the outer reaches. The inner reaches was only for priest and holy people. The Holy of Holiest could only be entered only by the high priest, only once a year and was separated by a curtain from the inner reaches. The curtain was 60 feet high and 30 feet tall and 3 inches thick. An enormous curtain, which took 300 man to hang the curtain on the wall and which no man could tear apart. Not even with horses could this curtain be torn apart. The high priest had to be without sin to be able to enter the Holy of Holiest. They tight a rope unto his feet, because when he would die while entering the Holy of Holiest, due to sin, they could still pull him out. Because no man was allowed to enter this Holy of Holiest place, which was the chamber which represented God’s appearance on earth. The moment Jesus died on the cross, this curtain was torn in two from top to bottom. The broking curtain represents that by the sacrifice of Jesus, we no longer need to be without sins to become before God. We can enter the Holy of Holiest with our sins, because Jesus paid the price for our sins. With this deed, the boarder to come before God had been removed. God made it possible for us to come to Him again, with all our failures. Second minor detail is, the curtain was torn from top to bottom. When men would have done this, it would have been torn from bottom till top, but God did this and therefore it was torn from top to bottom. Because this was all part of His masterplan to send His Son to the earth.

The amazing thing to me is that all these historical facts seem to fit perfectly in this one small sentence in the bible. Therefore I needed to share onto this forum this story, because I’m still amazed by His amazing glory every day. I just cannot believe that somebody is smart enough to invent such curiosities and let this show up in 4 different evangelisms.

Anyway, I can imagine when you read this and you don’t believe, you will not agree with my point of view. I do understand this and I take the opportunity to say sorry for wasting your time to share this story ;). But as a Christian, I just sometimes need to share my visions in the hope you also might discover the amazing power behind the stories and the beauty of it all. Because as a believer, that is my wish to all non-believers, that one day you might be seeing more in the story of Christ than just a story. So far again for pastor Robert during eastern in Kenya ;).

Yesterday we went with a youth group into the mountains around Nairobi for an eastern hike. What an amazing and lovely day to spend in this beautiful country. Talitha and myself enjoyed ourselves a lot and had also the chance to speak to the youth about the World of Difference project. It is always good to share our vision with this project with as many youth as possible. A day which also goes into the logbook of amazing memories of our time in Kenya 

God bless you all,

Robert

    E Hoogendoorn:
